We are seeking a Scientific Employee for Content Analysis & Knowledge Organization (m/f/d) at our location in Hamburg or Kiel, starting May 1, 2026, within our department A1 - Scientific Services.

The remuneration is according to the tariff group EG 14 TV-L, with a workload of 19.35 hours per week. The position is initially limited until April 30, 2028, as per § 14 paragraph 2 of the Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act (TzBfG), with an option for extension.

Your Responsibilities...

  • Strategically developing the areas of content analysis, knowledge organization, and information services, focusing on automating processes involved in metadata generation, knowledge management, and the organization of scientific content.
  • Network and coordinate the activities of content analysis and knowledge organization both within and outside the ZBW.
  • Lead the Content Analysis and Knowledge Organization team, including managing topics and personnel under the department head's responsibilities.

Your Profile...

Required:

  • Extensive knowledge in content analysis and working with knowledge organization systems (e.g., classifications, thesauri, authority data) and their role in search and discovery systems.
  • Understanding of automated and AI-supported indexing processes.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of Linked (Open) Data and the Semantic Web (RDF, URIs, ontologies, SKOS) and their importance for library metadata.
  • Experience in coordinating interdisciplinary teams comprising library, IT, and data experts.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work conceptually and independently.
  • Teamwork skills, specifically in team development.
  • Proficiency in both German and English, written and spoken.

Desired:

  • Experience in data preparation (cleaning, merging), such as merging non-standardized and standardized data.
  • Experience in scientific advice and/or the mediation of information literacy.

Willingness for occasional daytime assignments at the other location and travel as well as continuous education is expected.
